BEAT Training Zones

Bay’s Edge Aquatic Team coaches utilizes a color-coded system to differentiate between training intensities.  This type of classification system is used to help better plan and administer training.  Specificity between the zones will inable an athlete to reach a level of fitness that will produce their best performances in competitions.

Table 1 outlines the intensities and gives examples of work loads, rest intervals, and the USA designation.   Each color corresponds with a particular intensity that can be perscribed by the coach and undertaken by an athlete

Table 2 shows the expected phsyiological adapations of the corresponding color.  These adaptations are what will ultimately lead to an athlete’s increase in performance.

TO GET THE MOST OUR OF THEIR TRAINING, ALL GOLD, BLUE, BLACK, AND MASTERS ATHLETES SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH THIS SYSTEM.
