Bay’s
Edge Aquatic Team’s Bronze Group is designed to be an
athlete’s the first step towards long-term swimming
success. The group’s goal is for each athlete to develop
basic motor learning skills such as balance and
coordination. This includes in the water and out-of-water
activities that are encouraging, enjoyable, and promotes a
life-long love for the water.
Expectations:
1-2 years of
swimming experience
Athletes in
the Bronze Group should be punctual and prepared for each
practice. Bronze athletes should have a positive attitude and
an interest in improving their swimming. While there are no
attendance requirements for this group athletes are encouraged to
participate in as many practices as possible during the
week. Consistency is the key to
improvement.
Swimming
Requirements:
1. Bronze
Group members should be able to swim one lap (25-yards) of the
Freestyle and Backstroke without stopping.
Training:
Training for
our Bronze group will focus almost solely on basic skill
development. Bronze workouts are structured to encourage
participation in swimming and provide an opportunity to train, but
at the same time allow the athlete to participate in other
activities outside of swimming.
Workouts will
consist primarily of single-lap swimming with an emphasis placed on
learning proper stroke technique, kicking, swimming etiquette and
having fun!
Dry-land
training will be incorporated to build basic motor learning skills
such as balance and coordination.
Swimmer to
Coach Ration - 1:15 Maximum
Goals:
Athletes in
the Beginners Group should be building a foundation for swimming
success. This includes:
1.
Developing confidence in the water
2.
Building basic strength and fitness
3.
Learning proficiency in all four competitive strokes (50 yards of
non-stop swimming)
4.
Becoming comfortable with the rules and etiquette of the
sport
5.
Understand how to use a pace clock
6.
Become proficient in starts, turns, drills, and
sculling
7.
Developing leg strength and overall flexibility
8.
HAVING FUN and DEVELOPING A LOVE FOR THE SPORT!
